Autumn Workshop 2025
The autumn weekend workshop will take place on 29–30 November 2025 at the Institute of Classical, Mediterranean and Oriental Studies, University of Wrocław (21 Komuny Paryskiej St.) – ATTENTION: not the place where the winter and summer editions usually take place!
There will be three proficiency groups:
- Tirones
Target group: beginners (= complete beginners or those with minimal prior knowledge of Latin)
Instructor: Katarzyna Ochman
Content: basic vocabulary related to school and academic life + chapters I–III of H. Ørberg’s textbook “Familia Romana” - Provectiores
Target group: those with at least 90–120 hours of Latin instruction and who have already encountered most grammar topics (ability to speak Latin is not required)
Instructor: Elżbieta Górka
Content: the comedy Chrysis by Enea Silvio Piccolomini (don’t worry: there will be lots of pictures and exercises! 😉 ) - Veterani
Target group: those with at least 300–360 hours of Latin instruction (ability to speak Latin is not required, but some fluency in listening comprehension will be necessary)

Daily schedule (the same on Saturday and Sunday):
- 10:00–11:30 — class 1
- 11:30–12:00 — coffee break
- 12:00–13:30 — class 2
- 13:30–15:00 — lunch break
- 15:00–16:30 — class 3
- 16:30–17:00 — coffee break
- 17:00–18:30 — group singing (Sat.) / Latin games and activities (Sun.)
- 19:00–… — dinner
Participation fee
- The workshop fee is 60 EUR or 250 PLN for those who pay by 15 October and 75 EUR or 300 PLN for later payments. This amount includes: 16 hours of classes, teaching materials (photocopies, etc.), and refreshments during coffee breaks.
- Students, doctoral candidates, and employees of the Faculty of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures, University of Wrocław and the Pontifical Faculty of Theology in Wrocław are entitled to a 90% discount, i.e. they only pay a registration fee of 30 PLN.
- The bank account number will be provided in the email confirming a spot in a group.
Meals
- The participation fee does not cover lunches or dinners.
- During the lunch break, you can go to one of the nearby restaurants
- or stay at the Institute and eat a meal brought from home (a microwave will be available for participants) or order delivery.
Accommodation
- Participants are free to choose their accommodation according to their own preferences.
- Right next to the Institute (literally next door) there is Hostel Wratislavia. In previous years, some people stayed at the Notre Dame Sisters’ house (a 30-minute walk from the current venue).
- Wrocław is one of the most visited cities, so it is advisable to book accommodation in advance.
- After registration you will receive a link to a WhatsApp group, which will help those who would like to share an apartment or room with another participant to connect.
