Scholae Vernae — Spring Workshop 2026
The spring workshop will take place on 10 – 12 April 2026 at the Institute of Classical, Mediterranean and Oriental Studies, University of Wrocław (21 Komuny Paryskiej St.) – ATTENTION: not the place where the summer editions usually take place!
In this edition, we plan to run at least three groups, each at a different level of proficiency.
- Tirones: learners at an introductory level who already have some basic familiarity with Latin. Textbook: Familia Romana, starting around chapters 9–10.
- Provectiores 1: learners with 90–120 hours of previous exposure to Latin who have encountered most of the main grammatical topics (active spoken Latin is not required). Textbook: Familia Romana, beginning from chapter 18.
- Provectiores 2: learners with approximately 180–240 hours of experience with Latin who are already familiar with most grammatical topics (spoken Latin is not required). Text studied in class: Julius Caesar, Commentarii de Bello Gallico.
- Veterani: learners with around 300–360 hours of experience with Latin. Speaking Latin is not required, but participants should be reasonably comfortable understanding spoken Latin. Text studied in class: Leo the Great, Sermones.
At present we do not plan to offer a group for complete beginners in this edition. However, you can indicate your interest in a beginners’ level in the registration form. If enough participants sign up, we will open such a group and keep you informed about future opportunities to begin learning Latin.
